The production of steering wheels requires the magnesium skeleton to be washed of impurities from the foundry and dried before thermoforming using special equipment. The system installed at the TRW plant in Timisoara, Romania, consists of a continuous washing tunnel, with a station for loading the raw product and unloading the finished product ready for subsequent thermoforming. Washing is ensured through a series of nozzles through which the steering wheel assembly passes continuously, which bathe it with a continuously controlled detergent solution; the passage through the hot air section guarantees the complete drying of the steering wheel.
